Laurie Lane, Director

About Lane Town Planning
Laurie Lane is the Director of Lane Town Planning. He commenced his planning career back in 2005 at Sheffield City Council, working in the Local Plans and Development Management teams.
In 2008 Laurie moved into consultancy where he worked on a range of planning applications and appeals, including for onshore wind projects and a range of residential developments.
Laurie's experience in residential development led him onto an exciting career with Gladman Developments as a Planning Director in 2013. There he led a team of planners and project managers, submitting applications and appeals for schemes from 50 homes up to new garden villages of 3,000 homes. During this time, Laurie acted as expert witness at numerous planning hearings and public inquiries.
From 2018, Laurie was approached to set up Concert Homes, a commercial house building business, on behalf of the Housing Association, Progress Housing Group. During his time there as Managing Director, he led and was involved in all aspects of the business from finding and purchasing land, to designing standard house types, securing planning permission for sites, construction and deliver, and all the way through to sales to customers. At its height the business sold c. 50 homes a year and had a turnover in excess of £12 million.
More recently, Laurie founded Lane Town Planning with a view to applying his extensive planning and commercial experience to providing high quality planning consultancy. Having operated a commercial house builder, Lane Town Planning can offer something many planning consultants are lacking: compelling, real world commercial and development experience. We do not just secure planning permissions, they are permissions which optimise the value of your land that you can build.
Lane Town Planning offers all aspects of planning advice, but is focused principally at the strategic land, residential, commercial and renewables sectors.
Laurie is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
